Day 3 Montserrat & the beach

This morning we went to Montserrat in the mountains. The cable car caused some consternation, as several staff clung to the centre posts, but the views were spectacular.

We spent the afternoon at Platja dells Capellans (generic photo included) where a 2 hour-long volleyball / netball/ water polo match ensued.

Day 2 Barcelona

This morning, we went to Parc Guell in Barcelona, an amazing park designed by Antonio Gaudí. The general consensus was that the views were spectacular, as was the ice-cream! We had lunch at the former bullring which is now a shopping centre before doing a tour of the city. The highlight was definitely the famous Sagrada Familia, the construction of which started in the 1880s. It is now due to be finished in 2032, a delay of 6 years because of Covid.

Day 1 Barcelona ‘23

5.30am meet up to travel down to Dublin. A long day travelling to get to Barcelona, an essential pit stop for a non-Spanish McDonald’s and then on to the Roman aqueduct at Tarragona. The hotel is brilliant, really lovely rooms and pool area. We’ve had a buffet dinner and are now at the beach.

Words of the day: el aqueducto, estirar las piernas (to stretch your legs
